Hope amidst Uncertainty

Oh uncertainty, how do we know?
When the abusive and the powerful continue to trick the weak.
When money can buy people’s dignity.
When fear and lies momentarily overpower kindness and truth.

Until when shall we experience darkness before we see the light?
Young people with their idealism are burning with fire.
Let no waves of tyranny dampen the spirits that hope for the better.
Let calmness envelope our mind and
wisdom inform the thinking of our hearts
to correct injustices without playing and burning with fire.

As the moment of truth draws near,
may we use all our powers to win a country for everyone.
No color, no region, no class, no religion, divide us.
No false presumptions of unity, for unity’s sake.
No revisions of history.
No erasures of memory.
A sense of history grounded on lessons to be learned.
Institutions that learn from failure.
A government that delivers.

Working for a humane present.
Yearning for a just future.
An enlarged sense of self.
A clearer position of our place in a complex, complicated and connected world.
A revitalized spirit hoping and working for justice and the common good.
